Modern, high-efficiency gas and oil boilers, such as those made by Burnham, save money on fuel and are kind to the environment because their high efficiency means they burn cleanly. What’s more, the technologically advanced heating systems available today can improve the comfort of your home.
New boilers often provide the option of incorporating energy-saving controls that greatly reduce fuel usage during mildly cold weather and provide a more even heat with fewer temperature swings. These energy-saving packages can be tailored to your new boiler.
Many of today’s furnaces, such as those made by Amana, use variable-speed fans and heating elements to provide superior, economic comfort—no matter how mild or cold the weather is outside. Furnaces today are more efficient than ever, and are designed to operate quietly while still distributing warmth evenly throughout your home.
Boiler vs. furnace: What’s the difference?
In a furnace, heat is generated by burning fuel. This happens in the furnace’s combustion chamber, which gets very hot. Air absorbs this heat in the unit’s heat exchanger. Next, a blower sends the heated air through a system of ducts, and warm air circulates through the home.
In a boiler, water is heated instead of air. A circulator pumps the hot water through a system of pipes, distributing the water to radiators, baseboards or air handlers throughout the home. Some older boilers are designed to create steam. The pipes are connected to steam radiators throughout the home.
